Dan's Barn near Gallatin, Tennessee.
Oly E510 & ZD50/f2
Last month we made a trip to northern Tennessee to visit the in-laws. I had just acquired my 50/f2 and next door there were some interesting barn structures and other things begging to be photographed. One barn in particular caught my attention. It was by far in the best condition. Here it is.
My brother-in-law was driving out when I took this. I saw him stop and talk to his neighbor (the one on whose property this barn was located). I had taken the photograph and had turned to find something else to shoot, when I heard "Hey! Brother-in-law!" I turned to see it was the neighbor walking briskly toward me. I knew I was on his property and thought maybe he was going to ask me to get off it. As it turned out, he introduced himself to me - his name is Dan - and he told me that he knew I'd be interested in the lines and lighting inside that barn and he was going to leave it open for a short while if I wanted to go inside and shoot a few before he locked it up.
Well! All I had was the E510 and 50/f2 and no flash other than the pop-up, but I thanked him and took him up on the offer. And Dan was absolutely correct. The bottom floor was pretty yucky and cluttered with junk. But the upstairs... wow! I'm sure lots of you guys could have done better and would probably have composed differently. But I worked with what I had and I refrained from using the pop up. All these are hand held w/IS1. Hope you like. And many thanks to Dan. This was very nice of him.
